Account Questions

I used to have an account our your website, but I can't log in now?
As on January 1st, 2020 we opened our new website, which now uses your email address as you login and not your old username that you created.  If you had not logged in to your account in over a year then we didn't transfer your account over to the new website and you will have to create a new account.  If you are not sure if you still have an account you can always try to register your account with you email address and if the system tells you that email is already registered then you can click on the link below the password that says "Forgotten your password?".

I can not remember my password how do I recover it?
When you try to login if you do not remember your password you can click on the link below "Forgotten your password?" and that will send you an email that will allow you to reset your password and get back in to your account.

Where do I make changes to my account?
In the upper right comer of the website, you should see your name.  Simply click on your name and you will get a pull down menu of items that you can control on your account.  Photo

Why should I subscribe to the Phil's Coins newsletter?
The newsletter is a system we use to inform customers of the latest news that has to do with our company.  We mostly use it to let you know of new products, new policies, issues we may be having with the site and also to keep you up to date on issues that may effect your orders. If you would like to change this setting log in to your account and click on you name and you will see newsletter in the pull down menu and you can select to Subscribe or Unsubscribe.

Website Orders

When I go to checkout the page doesn't contain any place to put my credit card information?
Please make sure that you are using the newest version of your internet browser because using an older version may not work correctly.  Below is the version of the browsers that have been tested and should work with the checkout system.  To test your browsers please click HERE.

I have entered all the credit card information and I don't see anywhere to process my order?
If you enter the wrong credit card number the numbers will remain black where if you entered a valid card number they numbers will turn green.  To make the button appear you have to enter a valid credit card number and an expiration date and the security code.   To see what it should look like if the credit card number is not valid and if it is please click on here.

I tried placing an order and my order status came back “Failed Fraud Review” what does that mean?
We have installed some software that helps us identify possible Fraud threats and do to information not provided and information that raised questions about the order possibly being fraudulent it may flag your order and prevent it from going through.  Below is a list items that may make it more difficult for your order be processed.
1)    Using a VPN that shows you are ordering from another country or another state then you reside.  Disabling your VPN during order should resolve this issue.
2)    No Phone number, our system checks to see if the phone number is a valid number or has been reported by other companies as fraudulent.  Adding this to your account will help reduce the possibility to having your transaction flagged.
3)    PO Boxes or Ship Forwarders (private companies that you can purchase a private mail box) will raise the possibility of your order being flagged.  If this is your address used in your billing of your credit card then you will have to use this.

We will be monitoring this new system and when we see repeat customers that their transactions get flagged we have been editing the fraud software to allow customers that have higher scores to still place orders without issues.  If you are having issues with your order you can contact us at [email protected]

I don't have a PayPal Account, do I have to create one to make purchases on your site?
No, as you can see in this Image, you can use you PayPal account if you choose too, but towards the bottom of the popup image you can choose to pay with a credit card and then it will get your information and proceed to check you out with your credit card.

I didn't receive an e-mail confirming my order, how can I check to see if it went through?
Login in to your account and click on the down arrow next to your name and select Order History.  Inside you will see all of your past orders along with details on what your purchased and how much it was.

Why don't I get e-mails when I place a new order or when my orders are completed?
With any website provider they work hard to try to protect their customers from junk/spam emails and will block them.  Sometimes in a effort to protect their customers they will block legitimate emails from going through.  When we see that emails servers are blocking our emails we contact them to try to resolve the issue with them, sometimes this can take weeks to get resolved.

How long does it take to process my website order?
Most website orders are processed within 24 hours of being placed, there are exceptions to this but for the most part that is true.  If you place a website order after noon on Saturdays or any time during Sunday these orders will not be processed until Monday morning.

Are you items on your website in stock or are is there a delay in processing my order.
Phil's Coins doesn't sell anything that we do not have in stock unless otherwise noted.  Since a lot of our stock is unique coins and we do not know when we will get another one in we do not sell items that we do not have.

Website Questions

If you are out of stock on the website does that mean you don't have any of that item in the entire store?
The quick answer is no, our store location and website department have different inventories as the website need to know exactly what we have in stock while our store front employees can look to see if an item is in stock or not.  If you contactthe website department we can look to see if an item maybe in our store front inventory and then move that item to the website for purchase.  

The item I want is out of stock. When will you get it back in?
We are a retail coin shop and all non-current year products are purchased from the general public. Due to this we are unable to estimate when an item will be back in stock. If you wish to be notified when the item does come back in to stock you may use the Notify Me button found on each item’s page.

I was looking at the price of Silver Eagles yesterday and when I went online today the price is changed.  Does this item price change all of time?
Yes, some products that their price is based on the current silver or gold market get updated every 30 minutes on our website.  So, if you add one of these items to you shopping cart and you leave it in there for longer then 30 minutes it may change in price as when you add these items to the cart is doesn't hold that price.

I am having issues with items not being displayed properly on your website, why?
With website technology changing constantly, we are always making minor changes that most users do not see on a regular basis.  Most users are not even aware that anything has changed due to them not being effective but to users using older or not updated website browsers you may see changes or the website is not longer being displaying properly.  If you are having issues I would check to make sure that the website browser you are using is up to date on upgrades and if you are using Internet Explorers on a system with Windows 7 or earlier you may look to download a browsers that is not dependent on your operating system (Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox).  If these issues continue please contact us and we will be glad to assist with resolving these issues. 

Coin Question

Do you buy coins?
We purchase coin collections of all values at market competitive rates.

What is my coin worth?
We are unable to give a value on most coins without seeing them. This does not apply to certified coins or common items such as Wheat Cents, Silver Eagles, Mint Sets, etc.

Do you buy jewelry?
We purchase jewelry as scrap based on the value of the precious metals in it.

Do you clean your coins?
In some circumstances we will clean a coin to remove dirt and toning. We do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive materials. This process does not harm the coin and will not reduce the value.
